Commentary Workshop t be held at Princes Park

Are you the next Motty, Mowbray, Tyler or Murray?

Well we could help you find out, as we’re delighted to announce we have been approached to host the next FOOTBALL COMMENTARY WORKSHOP

Now in its 10th year, the workshop has seen over 350 aspiring football commentators to its many events and we hope to be able to host the next one will be right here at Princes Park on Saturday 11th November when the Mead are scheduled to host Guernsey in our next home BOSTIK League game subject to progress next week in the FA Trophy!

The workshop is an opportunity for aspiring, up-and-coming football commentators to spend a few hours in the company of the hosts, both of whom are experienced football commentators. FCW Host Barry Swain is a regular Premier League and Bundesliga commentator with talkSPORT who also commentates on highlights packages for Stoke City amongst others.

We spoke to Barry about coming to Princes – something that he is excited about. “It's my first visit to Princes Park and I'm really looking forward to it,” he told us. “We've held recent workshop at venues such as Wembley FC, Ashton United and Haringey Borough. Without doubt this workshop will enjoy some excellent facilities and the commentators will get an unobstructed view of what we hope is a great game."

On the day itself, the attending commentators will be put through their paces by Barry and his colleagues for an afternoon of “pure football commentary!” Barry went through the afternoon with us. “They'll get to find out about the tricks of the trade, what makes a good commentator. How to deliver the perfect commentary and how to avoid all the pitfalls that a football commentator faces. They'll then get to put their new-found knowledge to the test by commentating on the full 90 minutes of the day’s action. The participants all get to keep a copy of their recorded commentary as a lasting memory of their day.”
