Danny's spot on as Chips are downed
The Mead 1-0 Chipstead
The Mead completed the League double over Chipstead courtesy of Danny Parish' s seventeenth League goal of the season settled a game that wont live long in the memory.
Unlike so many of the Mead's matches that has seen the side net eighty three goals in thirty eight games, this was a real battle against a Chipstead side who arrived at Princes Park on the end of five straight defeats. The home side of course were returning from the midweek 3-0 success at condemned Shoreham which in turn snapped a losing streak for the home side that has made even the most optimistic Mead fans Play Off dreams evaporate!
You just knew that it was going to be one of those days as an early morning accident on the Dartford Bridge caused travel chaos in all directions - some supporters missed kick-off as the queues on the road grew all day, and sadly to be fair those who didn't make it to the game were probably the lucky ones!
A bitterly disappointing first half saw both sides struggle to get going completely, and whilst the second half thankfully improved at least seeing the two sides starting to provide those who'd beaten the traffic something to enjoy.
The games only goal arrived just past the midway point when for the second successive home game the Mead were awarded a penalty. Danny Parrish duly picked up the ball and took the authority before he drove home the spot kick for his seventeenth League goal of the season to take him to within one of the Mead's top scorer - Paul Vines - who has eighteen League goals in his twenty-four overall.
Back to back wins then for the Mead - and clean sheets too - to propel the side into the Easter programme and the finale to the season.
