Mead miss out
Hythe Town 2-1 The Mead
The Mead started October in the same was as they ended September with a disappointing defeat - the third suffered in the last four League games on a pitch which was looking rather worse for wear!
With Tom O'Connor still missing, it really wasn't the Mead's night as Alex Teniola proved mid way through the first half as he was denied his 12th goal of the season by a post in a disappointing opening half that was only set alight just before the break when Dos Santos drove the home side in front. The Mead suffered a further blow on the stroke of half-time when Tashi-Jay Kwayie was forced off with injury.
Taking the lead gave the home side the upper hand at the start of the second half and Lewis Carey was forced into a brilliant save to deny the home side before Hythe carved open the Mead's defence again to double the lead.
The Mead finally got more and more into the game and started to create chances without really testing the Hythe keeper. Harvey Brand and Tobi Ayala combined down the right only for Paul Vines to fire at the keeper, before Vinesy went even closer as he headed Ellis Green's free kick just over the bar. Sub Laurent Mendy burst through down the left before drilling into the side netting before the Mead finally got on the scoresheet with two minutes left of the ninety as from Ellis' cross, Vinesy powered home his fourth goal of the season. Sadly though it was too little too late and the home side had gained revenge for their defeat at Princes in the first week of the season.
The Mead - Carey, Brand, McIntyre, Anidugbe, Smith, Avery, Green, Ayala, Vines, Teniola (Kinch), Kwayie (Mendy)
