Crazy night sees Mead surrender three points
The Mead 4-5 East Grinstead Town
The Mead twice blew a lead as the Wasps from East Grinstead again denied their lowly League position to take points coming from behind.
At the game in Sussex, the then home side recovered from 1-3 to earn a late point and on this bizarre night at Princes they again recovered from one down, 2-3 and 2-4 behind to this time take all three points as the Mead collapsed against a side who on the night conceded their 100th League goal of the season.
After an early Danny Parrish goal was almost instantly cancelled out the Mead went behind inside the opening ten minutes to strikes from Thompson and Gaggin. Laurent Mendy then equalised and Danny gave the Mead the lead before the normally reliable Paul Vines missed from the spot just before the half time interval. When Vinesy did hit the target just before the hour mark, it looked at 4-2 in front as though the home side would run out comfortable winners.
But for some reason the home side almost stopped playing in any recognisable defensive pattern, as former Mead man Everett pulled a third back almost immediately on the hour, before Postance then netted twice in four minutes - on 71 and 74 minutes - gave the Wasps the lead. Give there were still sixteen minutes left, there perhaps strangely was no further goals despite chances at both ends.
It was another truly frustrating evening for the Mead...
